In our Catalan wine tasting, we invite you to explore the diversity and charm of this passionate wine region with its 12 Designations of Origin. Catalonia is renowned for its rich winemaking tradition and wide variety of high-quality wines.
We will begin our tasting with the white wines, which reflect the freshness and expressiveness of the region. We will discover the indigenous Xarel·lo grape, known for its elegance and character. We will also explore the Garnacha Blanca grape, which offers a silky texture. Not to mention the great variety of indigenous grapes from the area.
We will continue our adventure by tasting Catalan red wines, known for their body and complexity. The Garnacha grape will delight us with its fruity intensity and soft tannins. And the Carinyena variety, which presents a powerful structure. But between these two queens of the region, there are many more varieties that offer a unique range appreciated worldwide.
And, of course, we cannot forget about the famous Catalan sparkling wines, crafted using the traditional method of second fermentation in the bottle. We will uncover the differences between Brut and Brut Nature or a Reserva and a Gran Reserva.
Guided by expert sommelier Celia Novoa, who will share her knowledge and love for the wines of the region, we will also learn about the Catalan terroir, the influence of the Mediterranean climate, and the winemaking techniques that make these wines true enological gems.
The tasting will consist of sampling between 6 and 8 wines, allowing participants to properly appreciate and evaluate each wine, take notes, discuss impressions, and savor the flavors and aromas of each wine. At the end of the wine tasting, a selection of regional delicacies will be offered to complement and enhance the flavors of the wines tasted. This provides a complete and enriching culinary experience for attendees.
The duration of the wine tasting can range from 1.5 to 2 hours, but it may be influenced by other factors such as attendee participation and the exchange of opinions about the wines tasted.
The goal of the tasting is to appreciate and evaluate the characteristics of different wines, develop sensory skills, learn about wine, and make informed decisions when choosing and purchasing wines.
